Snake battle royale: how the closing zone works and how to win
Battle royale turns snake into a game of position. The arena shrinks ring by ring, everyone is pushed together, and the last snake alive wins. Here is exactly how the zone works and how to use it.

How the zone closes
- For the first twenty seconds the whole arena is safe. Eat and grow.
- Then the edge of the arena turns red and the safe zone starts shrinking, one ring every four seconds.
- Before each ring closes, a dashed red line shows where the new edge will be, and a countdown appears.
- Food left outside the zone disappears. Any snake whose head ends up outside is eliminated.
Phase one: grow fast
The early game is the only calm part. Grow as much as you can, and pick up power-ups: Battle royale uses them. A longer snake has more body to wall others off later.
Phase two: move in early
The most common way to lose is being caught by the zone. When the countdown starts, head toward the middle before the dashed line reaches you. Long snakes need several seconds to turn round and get out, so move sooner the longer you are.
- Don't chase food near the edge once the zone is moving. It is the classic trap.
- Golden food near the edge is a bigger trap: it vanishes anyway.
- If you have to cross the board, go through the middle, not along the edge.

Phase three: the final circle
At the end, every snake is packed into a small space. Now length becomes a weapon: lay your body across the space and let others run out of room. Avoid head-on crashes: two snakes dying together at the end hands the win to whoever is left.
Winning strategies
- The centre runner: stay central the whole game, grow steadily, never fight near the edge.
- The edge hunter: follow rivals who are slow to leave the edge, and cut them off as the zone pushes them toward you.
- The survivor: stay small and agile, avoid every fight, and let the zone and the others do the work.
